Aimed to encourage consumers to keep sun protection in the game year-round.
September 10, 2026
By: Lianna Albrizio
As peak sun season winds down and summer routines transition into fall, sunscreen application naturally falls off consumers’ daily skincare routines.
But with dermatologists drilling home the importance of daily sunscreen use, be it under cloudy or blue skies, many consumers are skipping application altogether. According to research by EltaMD, sunscreen usage drops 43% from summer to fall, with 100% of survey participants reporting sunscreen use in summer compared to 57% in fall and 46% in winter.
To encourage consumers to defend their skin with continued SPF use, EltaMD is launching a new campaign called “No Offseason for SPF.” Designed to disrupt the seasonal decline in sunscreen use, the campaign aims to reinforce a simple message: SPF is the MVP of any skincare routine year-round.
“My work has always been about putting a fresh spin on the familiar,” said Kristin Juszczyk, founder and chief creative officer of Off Season. “I love that ‘No Offseason for SPF’ brings that same idea to sun protection, making it an easy part of your routine year-round.”
By leveraging football season as a timely entry point, the campaign reframes SPF as a daily wellness habit that belongs in every routine, regardless of the season, weather or occasion. Through a combination of trusted dermatological expertise, culturally relevant storytelling, strategic collaborations with like-minded tastemakers, and in-person experiences, EltaMD is bringing what it’s calling a timely, engaging and actionable perspective to the importance of maintaining consistent sun protection throughout the year.
Juszczyk will join a roster of board-certified dermatologists such as Dr. Dustin Portela, Dr. Wallace Nozile, and other sports, beauty and makeup enthusiasts like Allison Khong, Olivia Harlan Dekker and more who will translate the campaign into engaging, educational, social-first content.
“If you want great skin, you have to protect it more than three months a year,” said board-certified dermatologist Dr. Dustin Portela. “SPF isn’t just for summers if you’re serious about skin care…There’s no offseason for SPF.”
EltaMD’s year-round SPF playbook encourages consumers to make sunscreen a non-negotiable part of their skincare routine, with targeted formulas designed to tackle specific skin concerns while seamlessly fitting a range of skin types, needs, and everyday skincare and beauty routines:
UV Clear SPF Collection – UV Clear SPF 46 helps calm skin prone to breakouts. The latest addition to the line, UV Clear Blemish-Prone & Oil Balancing SPF 50, is clinically proven to reduce visible blemishes, excess oil, and pore size, promoting a visibly clearer, healthier-looking complexion over time, according to the brand.
UV Skin Recovery SPF Collection – A 100% mineral SPF 50 designed for sensitive, rosacea-prone and compromised skin. The line is centered around repairing, strengthening and soothing the skin barrier. For skin prone to redness, the green tinted version offers red color correction for a calmer, more even-looking complexion.
UV Daily SPF Collection – The UV Daily collection delivers daily hydration, broad-spectrum protection, and a comfortable, wearable finish for skin that deserves more from its everyday SPF. The line also includes UV Daily Hydration+ SPF 50, a formula that combines SPF 50 and Hyaluronic Acid to deliver clinically proven 24-hour hydration.
As an extension of this campaign, Glamsquad and EltaMD are teaming up to bring this approach to life through a complimentary “EltaMD Prep & Protect” add-on with any makeup service, featuring UV Skin Recovery Red Color Correcting Green Tint Broad-Spectrum SPF 50 now through Oct. 24 (available while supplies last in select markets; terms apply). The partnership will introduce SPF as an essential first step in makeup prep, while the formula will also be seeded to professional makeup artists and highlighted across Glamsquad’s digital and social channels.
